"If My Nikes Could Talk"

Legendary Running Back Anthony Davis

Tells His Rags to Riches Story in New Autobiography

Many know the legend of Anthony Davis, the “Irish-Killer.”  But until now, few have heard the story of his struggles after those glory days of college football at USC.  Through physical problems and financial difficulties, Anthony has emerged victorious and for the first time, is publicly telling his story of overcoming and triumph in a new book, If My Nikes Could Talk.

By the time he left school in 1975, Anthony Davis achieved the status of a legend in college football.  He finished with 24 school, conference and NCAA records.  Two of his three games against USC’s most intense rival, Notre Dame, are still among the most remembered moments in sports history.

If My Nikes Could Talk recounts the thrilling journey from obscurity to sports legend.  In this candid disclosure of his victories and his failures, Anthony speaks for the first time about his childhood and the challenges of overcoming the abuse of an alcoholic father, poverty and the racial tensions of the time.  His pro career proved to be a disaster because of injuries and personal conflicts.  In his later years, he pursued a career in real estate development.  As so many in recent years, Anthony experienced financial difficulties.  His fortunes sank so low that he found himself working as a security guard at a drive-in.

Always a fighter, Anthony steadily worked his way back.  He became a leading spokesman for modern medical breakthroughs including gastric bypass surgery pioneered by Dr. Alan Wittgrove.  He also was one of the first to benefit from a technique developed by Dr. Daniel Amen for discovering concussions that people didn’t know they had.  Both procedures saved his life and helped to restore his failing health.  He then connected with Life Coach Leonard Wayne and began the process of recovering the joy of life by setting new goals and pursuing them with purpose.  Today Anthony Davis is devoting himself to the promotion of his school, USC, and to telling his story of comeback to inspire others with hope for their future.

If My Nikes Could Talk is available for $24.95 in most bookstores nationwide, Amazon.com or at AnthonyDavisOnline.com.
